CHILDREN'S SERIES
| A
Message from Ann Rachlin
For many years I have been inspiring the love of great music to children aged 4 to 11, through my Fun With Music sessions in London, recordings and books. My technique of speaking with the music is unique. My voice is blended in pitch, mood and sometimes rhythm, so that the story and the music are perfectly intertwined. The children listen to the story and are completely unaware that, at the same time they are absorbing the music which remains in their minds. Many teachers in schools all over the english-speaking world have written to me describing how their classes sit entranced by my stories. I recommend that the recordings should be played without preamble and that the children should be encouraged to draw while listening. My own pupils are always given the chance to draw and, although I give them permission to draw anything they wish, they invariably illustrate the story. Later when they hear the music played on its own through radio or television, they often identify it with excitement, recalling not only my voice and story but their own illustrations. |
