Features duo piano music by Prokofiev, Russian composter Sergey Taneyev, Benjamin Britten, Chopin,Verdi/Liszt, and American composer Paul Schoenfield. Natives of St. Petersburg, Russia, twin sisters Irina and Julia Elkina have been playing the piano together since the age of five. Graduates of St. Petersburg Conservatory, Irina and Julia have frequently performed on Russian radio and television. In 1992,.they won First Prize in Italy's piano duet competition, Citta di Marsala. The sisters moved to the United States in 1993 and won the top prize at the Fourth Murray Dranoff International Two Piano Competition in Miami. They received special notice for their success in Time Magazine. Since then, the Elkinas have been on "Prarie Home Companion" with Garrison Keeler and on Minnesota Public Radio's "St. Paul Sunday Morning."
