Charles Geyer & Barbara Butler, trumpets

Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer have been performing as a double-trumpet duo since the mid-1970s when they first appeared under Leonard Slatkin with the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra in Chicago. Since that time they have appeared as duo-soloists with orchestras throughout the United States and Europe, including performances with the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla in Spain, Lieksa Brass Week in Finland and with the Eastman Wind Ensemble in a concert tour of Japan. They have appeared as featured soloists with Music of the Baroque since 1975.

In 1980, this now husband-and-wife team resigned their orchestral posts to become Professors of Trumpet at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York where they have been featured in concerts, recordings, national broadcasts and tours with the Eastman Brass and Eastman Virtuosi. In 1997, Butler and Geyer joined Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois as Professors of Trumpet.
