I had two goals in making this disc: to demonstrate the expressive capabilities of the late 20th century bass trombone and to provide a quality performance and recording for all fans and students of the trombone.

All the works but one on this disc were written in the 20th century. Traditionally, the bass trombone has played only a supporting role in most music and only recently has it begun to be considered in a more soloistic manner. Consequently, 19th century solo repertoire is scarce and sometimes simplistic; earlier solo repertoire is virtually nonexistent. My wish is that the listener will simply enjoy the music and appreciate how musical a bass trombone can be.
