Ruben Gonzalez-Violin

Winner of the First Prize in Violin at the International Competition of Barcelona and the Silver Medal in Geneva, as well as the Diploma of honor of the Chigiana Academy of Siena, Italy, Ruben Gonzalez has pursued a very distinguished international career as a solist, recitalist and chamber musician. For the last ten years he has held one of the most prestigious positions in the world of music, as Concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

This recording includes original and well known tangos representing the Argentine heritage performed by three different ensembles: a string quartet, a traditional tango group (violin, bandoneon, piano & bass), and an expanded ensemble adding alto flute and basset horn. The performers include members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Show "Forever Tango", and some of Chicago's leading musicians.
