CELLO

Subliminal Blues & Greens

Containing 15 tracks commissioned from 10 composers, the second disc from these classically trained female cellists possesses humor and versatility in addition to technical prowess. High points include a reggae romp, complete with dublike bass line and woody percussion - CELLO pounds as well as strums, bows, and plucks its instruments - and the goofy title track bursting with sliding blues notes. The quartet focuses on performing accessible, original music, integrating pop sensibilities with mainstream classicism. CELLO's enthusiastic performances are a tonic for ears weary of rock or classical clichés.

of ceremonies' with disarming grace and charm. . . . a revelation of the possibilities of cello sound .. . If CELLO is anywhere near you, go and hear them." ---The Strad

"They . . . have honed their musical empathy to create a remarkable ensemble." ---The Dispatch and the Rock Island Argus

"With high voltage energy and boundless enthusiasm, the four cellists . . . Charmed the audience with their playing and their personalities." ---The Westsider
