BACH'S GOLDBERG VARIATIONS Robin Sutherland has been Principal Pianist of the San Francisco Symphony for over 20 years. He was appointed by Seiji Ozawa, with whom he has appeared as a soloist in Florence, Brussels, St. Petersburg and La Scala, as well as San Francisco. The San Francisco Symphony's current Music Director, Michael Tilson Tomas, invited Sutherland as soloist in Bernstein's Age of Anxiety at London's Barbican Centre, Vienna's Konzerthaus, and in Sapporo, Tokyo and Hiroshima as pat of the Pacific Music Festival in 1995. Robin is a much sought after duo-recitalist and chamber muscian. He is a founding member of the Telluride Chamber Music Festival in Colorado. In this complete two disc set, musicologist Michael Steinburg's extensive notes on the Goldberg Variations are included in the CD booklet.
